‘I compare myself to silk. People mistake silk to be weak but a silk handkerchief can protect the wearer from a gunshot.’ – C Joybell C
I made a last minute move to the city of Cape Town. Warnings from peers about overpriced menus, venues and the difficulty of acquiring accommodation became distant whispers as I made my way to the mother city in search of a different landscape to make new memories, work as a writer and model in fashion and continue to explore the notion of ‘home’.
With all the challenges that come from relocating its worth mentioning that it is not something to take lightly at all and should be prepared for financially, socially and mentally too.
Everything I’m wearing is thrifted from a second-hand high-end fashion store hosting luxury brands like Tom Ford, DVF,Coach, DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger, Chanel, Guess, Versace, GAP and more. Total cost for the outfit, including over-sized blazer summed up to just a little over R2000.
